It seems like she has always been dancing. Over the years, she’s studied, Flamenco, Polynesian, Ballet, Disco Jazz, Hip Hop and contemporary dance with a smattering of Yoga thrown in for good measure. But it was back in 2005 that Amanda, aka ‘Tigerlily,’ started classes in Egyptian belly dancing with Celia Buchan of Borders Arabic Dance. In that same year, she saw the ‘Bellydance Superstars’ (BDSS) for the first time and was bowled over from the start, especially when she saw Rachel Brice, the American Tribal Fusion belly dancer. However, it wasn't until she saw Laura Monteith performing her solo piece for the group ‘Sarasvati’ in 2006 that she decided to change her personal style from Egyptian to Tribal Fusion.

Since then, she has been like a veritable sponge soaking up all the knowledge and experience she can from sources such as the BDSS DVD performing in Paris, ‘youtube’ and by attending lots of workshops. She has been taught by Aziza, Lubna, Khaled ('Golden Hips'), Shafeek Ibrahim, Yasmina of Cairo, and Laura Monteith, before she discovered 'Raqs Britannia' and then 'Tribalondon'.

In 2007, Amanda went down to Blackpool to discover more of the Bellydance Superstars and attend workshops with Moria Chappell, Sharon Kihara, Kami Liddle, Petite Jamilla, Sonia Ochoa, Samantha Emanuel (formerly Hasthorpe) and Ansuya.

The beginning of 2009 saw Amanda asked to join ‘Sarasvati,’ a Tribal Fusion troupe led by one of her inspirations, Laura Monteith. She has been performing with their sell-out show, 'Extraordinesque' on tour around Scotland.

Amanda continues to perform regularly and to develop and improve her own style. She enjoys choreography and is dedicated and hard working with a great sense of fun.

Tigerlily is currently pursuing her solo dance career which is taking her all over the UK!
